We came here with a reservation for a large party and it was amazing! They have a ton of delicious dishes to choose from and a beautifully decorated dining area. We sat in a booth for 6 people and order about 10 dishes, which was more than enough. I loved how unique and flavorful each dish was. Everything was well arranged and served in a timely manner. My favorite was the green curry! Overall, I would happily recommend this restaurant to anyone in the area.
The vibes here were absolutely fantastic. They created a lovely, super welcoming ambience. The hostesses and our server were super sweet and warm. The decor was very pretty and elegant. We really enjoyed eating there. While the food was definitely enjoyable, it was just a tad underwhelming. We both got the kea mao because our server recommended that. It definitely tasted good but was not the most flavorful. Some bites were kinda bland even. The shrimp was really tender though which was great. But the noodles just could have had more flavor we both felt. Overall really enjoyed the experience cause of the place and the people. Maybe we'll go back and try another dish next time. Ambiance and service: 10/10 Food: 7/10
I recently went to Pranakhon and had some very delicious foods! For appetizers, we ordered the Curry Pancake and the Moo Grob Kua Prik Gua (crispy pork belly). Both were so delicious. I found the crispy pork belly to have so much flavor and depth (especially when dipped in the chili lime sauce). Definitely one of my favorite items of the night! We also got a seasonal grapefruit salad that was not my personal favorite. It was very sour, with a strong fish sauce flavor. I felt like the dish had too many dominating flavors in one which felt a bit overwhelming/not cohesive. For the mains, we ordered the Short Rib Mussaman and the small Crab Fried Rice. Wow! That Short Rib Mussama curry was so flavorful and creamy. The short rib was fall off the bone tender! Highly recommend this!! The Crab Fried Rice also left me so impressed. I am not the biggest crab fan but this was one of the best fried rices I have ever tried. The dish was so flavorful (I'm sorry to keep using the word but it's honestly the only word I can find to accurately describe how I felt about the dishes). I can't describe how but it wasn't just a soy sauce/umami flavored fried rice. Highly recommend this dish as well! For dessert, we ordered the I-Tim Sundae. Oh my goodness. This was one of my favorite things I tried this night. This coconut sundae had jackfruit, sago sago, coconut sugar crunchies, corn, and more. So refreshing! All the flavors, textures, paired so well together. Must. get.
Absolutely delicious food at Pranakhon, I've gone back twice already. We got the fried softshell crab, the short rib massaman, and the papaya salad. All were delicious and not too spicy at our request. Service was fast and attentive. Ambiance is bright and a bit loud but nice. Outside seating also available
I recently visited Pranakhon, a restaurant that focuses on the vibrant street food of Thailand, and it did not disappoint! My friend and I decided to share the curry pancake, which was crispy, flavorful, and paired with an amazing tangy dip that elevated every bite. Based on recommendations, we considered the short rib drunken noodles, but ultimately, I opted for the beef drunken noodles while my friend chose the chicken version. Both dishes were delicious, with tender meat and a rich, savory sauce that perfectly balanced the spices. The noodles had a perfect texture--soft yet with a bit of bite, and the flavors were complex and satisfying. We arrived at 5 PM, and it was already quite busy, a testament to its popularity. Despite the crowd, the service was excellent. All the staff were incredibly friendly and attentive, enhancing our dining experience. The interior of Pranakhon is absolutely beautiful, adding to the overall experience. The decor is thoughtfully designed, creating an inviting and vibrant atmosphere that complements the food perfectly. The ambiance made the meal feel like an adventure, transporting us straight to the bustling streets of Thailand. Overall, Pranakhon delivered amazing food, exceptional service, and a memorable dining experience. I highly recommend it for anyone looking to enjoy authentic Thai street food in a stunning and welcoming setting. I can't wait to go back and try more of their menu!
If you haven't visited yet, Pranakhon may soon be added into your rotation of favorite Thai restaurants. When Thai Villa opened many years ago, they had us all camping out for tables at their beautifully decorated and well priced restaurants. The same purveyors have done it again with Pranakhon, with a focus on street food. Pranakhon isn't just riding on Thai Villa's coattails though. Their own claim to fame is that Lisa from Blackpink counts it as one of her favorite restaurants. Hype aside, the food is quite good. Crispy curry pancakes, chicken cutlet over rice, and especially the koon karee have me singing its praises. I was first introduced to this dish at the nearby Thai restaurant Soothr, and I now order it whenever I see it on any menu. I know it's pretty basic to like pad thai, but there's is a cut above. Theirs has the right balance of sweet, sour, and savory, and - crucially - it's not a moisture-sucking noodle desert. Their menu is compact, and I wish there were a few more options, particularly if you don't want to go so heavy on the proteins, but I liked everything I've tried. The two floor set up is charming, and the prices are right. I wouldn't be mad about going back.
11/10 will always recommend this place over Thai Villa. When Pranakhon opened a few years ago, I was skeptical as I always believed Thai Villa prioritized ambience over food quality but I am happy this restaurant proved me wrong! The service is prompt and efficient, with waiters always available. The food is flavorful and unique--do not miss any of the Branzinos on the menu. And make sure to try the Thai ice tea slushy--new on their menu for the summer!
The Good. The room. Awesome spot. The curry pancakes. Excellent. The short rib massaman curry. My favorite thing we ate. The pad se-ew. Just a quality version of a classic dish. The crab fried rice. Delicious, but overpriced and we got upsold on the larger portion unnecessarily. The Bad. The fish sauce smell will slap you in the face right when you walk in the door. Personally, not my favorite thing, but it does speak to the authenticity. The pork jowl appetizer wasn't BAD really, but it was not great. It was pale and a bit unappetizing to the rest of the table, so I ended up eating just about all of it. That was bad. The Ugly. The service. We waited 15 minutes past our reservation, which happens. But then we also waited 20 minutes for a drink after we sat down, and I can't be left without alcohol for 35 minutes on the one night I get away from my kids a month.
The food was absolutely amazing! I recommend making a reservation before hand as it was a bit crowded as we were leaving - I made a reservation and was seated in no time I loved everything we got - the soft shell crab karee and the tomyum noodle soup. The tomyum hit the spot! Perfect mix of sweet sour and savory. It reminded me of a better version of the mama ramen tbh but actually so good. A bit pricey ($32) but there is seafood in it so The soft shell karee (also $32) was sooooo good~ the karee was so rich and creamy and it paired so well with rice. This is a seasonal dish but I highly recommend. I think I'll be coming back to try more!
